You've probably noticed some changes down at the ballpark. Here's a quick rundown of all the great work that's been accomplished so far on our way to having the Fields of Dreams.

• In 2011 major landscaping work was completed for the main softball and baseball fields, preparing them for action in 2012.
• Our regulation softball field, complete with lights and new fan seating, is ready for play.
• The regulation baseball field, with new fan seating, is ready for play and has already seen some action.
• The Platte Valley Patriots have played a few games on the new baseball field - works great!

• Install scoreboards on the new fields - they're purchased and ready to be installed
• Install new nets for the batting cages
• Secure lighting for the new baseball field
• Complete planning and start working on new fan amenities - new concession stand, restrooms, spectator plaza

Partners from the Ashland Youth Ball Association, the City of Ashland and Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools have worked with engineering and architecture firm Clark Enersen Partners of Lincoln, to complete the final phases of planning for the long-awaited Ashland Ballpark renovations. Here's the whole plan, in a nutshell:

The Fields of Dreams project will increase the available fields from four to six, including high-school regulation baseball and softball fields.

In the image posted above, the largest field stands at the northeast corner bordered on the north by the hiking/biking trail and on the east by the Rodeo Grounds. This field boasts a grass infield and runs 390' to center and 315' along the foul lines, for use by high school, legion and town teams. √

The field to the west of the baseball field (up and to the right in this view) is a somewhat smaller multipurpose softball/baseball field, 325' to center, 275’ to the foul poles.

The leftmost field in this view is an NSAA-regulation 200' softball field for the Ashland Greenwood high school team and other fast-pitch softball teams. This field is also usable as a utility field for other softball and baseball games.√

The fourth field in the main complex is a Bronco League softball/high school softball field, 225' to center, 200' foul lines. Skinned infields on several of the fields allow any length of base paths and pitching distances to be accommodated.

To the upper right in this view are two teeball fields, maintained in the grassy area to the west of the main complex along Euclid Street.

Ample - and SAFE! - parking will be provided in two lots on the perimeter of the complex. A concession stand and new playground are also planned to complete the complex.
